Description This mirror has beautiful age and I'm describing the frame colour as a gilded gold over bronze, a stunning original colour. Gesso or Italian for chalk has been used as the traditional ground for gilding frames. The tick white paint like substance provides a uniformly smooth surface over wood mouldings onto which gold leaf is applied. The original mirror has been replaced, in 1973, possible around October 24th as marked on the back.
